How Does Benzac Work?

We treat the cause, not the symptoms.

We’ve taken two powerful ingredients – benzoyl peroxide (BPO) and our own unique AC technology (acrylates copolymer; that is, tiny beads that absorb up to four times their own weight in fluid) to form a combination that combats the culprit of acne – bacteria. 

This bacteria lives at the base of the millions of hair follicles covering your body. Normally, it lives peacefully off the natural occurring oils your body produces, breaking it down as food.

But when there is an imbalance to this process and an oversupply of oil, these bacteria multiply. Acne begins to develop. That means it’s time to put your Benzac AC treatment gel or wash to work.

The active ingredient benzoyl peroxide first delivers the potent antibacterial action needed to kill off the acne-causing bacteria that has multiplied. This reduces the inflammation and removes dead skin cells that are clogging your pores.

Then, within the same treatment application, our AC technology acts like a sponge on your skin, making sure any excess oil is fully absorbed.

Once the excess oil is removed, the glycerin properties of the AC technology helps to reduce dryness and hydrate your skin.

We recommend starting with the mild (2.5%) strength treatment gel if you’re using our products for the first time. 

The daily cleansers and moisturiser have been formulated to prepare your skin before the treatment and provide relief and restoration afterwards.
